Bartolome Bermejo

(b
?Cordoba, c. 1440; d ?Barcelona, after 28 March 1495). Spanish painter. Profoundly influenced by Netherlandish painting, he adapted the oil–glaze technique typical of that art to the requirements of his Spanish patrons. With his work, especially his Pieta (1490; Barcelona, Mus. Catedral), Spanish painting joined the Renaissance.
